President-elect Barack Obama, wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha pulled up stakes in Chicago over the weekend and moved to Washington, D.C., in time for the girls to start Monday at Sidwell Friends, a private school. Obama, who's known for his cool, told reporters leaving his home in Chicago was hard — and that he "choked up" for a moment after paging through a scrapbook that one of Malia's friends had left at the house. The Washington Post chronicles his low-key arrival. Scores of people turned out to wish the incoming president well, the newspaper reports.

President-elect Barack Obama's daughters, Sasha and Malia, have started at Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. STARALOGIC reports.
The Obamas are living in Washington's historic Hay-Adams Hotel, near the White House, until a few days before the inauguration. Then they will shift over to the Blair House, a guest house that is the traditional home of presidents-in-waiting. They will move into the White House Jan. 20.
Until then, the Obamas have a dizzying schedule of events leading up to the swearing-in. Obama is meeting today with congressional leaders in an attempt to get his economic stimulus plan approved as quickly as possible.
